Workaround / Fix for USB-Blocking

Du to problems in the USB.c header of RaspBerry Pi-OS Ubuntu and other OS the Device is Intermittently blocking the port (after 800 to 5000 calls). This is responded as no-memory Error if you access the port. Additionally the Error-Message in misleading.

This Example-Code below works with ubuntu 13.10 and above. The device ID can vary. The Code is PHP Version 3.

A local copy can be found at our Server: How do you reset a USB device from the command line?

Kontext: Borgmann Aquaponik Hydroponik Systems with Ubuntu and/or other Linux-Operating Systems (all versions we sell) are NOT effected. This Problem is well known since the first implementation of USB and the strategy (Ring-Expansion) which is used hereby on different OS. From our understanding the complete Approach on the USB-Implementation is a Design-Flaw. For Entertainment and Toys this is acceptable - for Tools not.

! This Reset-Approach is part of our default Setup on all Linux-Systems - If you use our Software this is already implemented !

As Workaround for similar Systems in Combination with PC, Arduino or RaspBerry we suggest to reset all USB Ports which are in use for Sensors after every usage/call of any Sensor connected to an USB-Port. This approach is until today the only way we know - or a reconfiguration of the usb.c Code and a complete recompiling of the Kernel - which gives still no Guarantee for flawless functionality on some Hard- and Software Constellations.

Please keep in Mind that Consumer-PCs and there Peripherals since the 486 Architecture are no longer in use for professional Control-Systems (Train- and Flight-control)!

The following Program will reset (re-bind) the USB-Port. We highly recommend to run this script after every USB-Read-Out. This guarantees at least one successful read-out off the usb-Port. In our Field tests we have never seen any Problems on the first 800 USB-Calls on any System - this means a reset of the USB Ports every Hour should be save enough to avoid any Blocking.

Nevertheless on our Systems this is done after every Read-Out. We sell Tools - not Toys.
