Nutritional values per 100g
Steps of cultivation
- Prepare growth medium and generously moisten the surface
- Distribute seeds evenly and avoid partial clusters
- Moisten the seeds extensively with a water sprayer
- Cover with any cover and weigh it down (e.g. two baking stones), store in a dark place
- Germination occurs in 2 - 3 days
- Remove cover and transfer to aquaponics system
- After 10 days, the ripe microgreens can be harvested
- Harvesting should take place in the morning or evening due to cooler temperatures
Radish-microgreens (Raphanus sativus) show species-specific responses to different substrates and photoperiods. Research shows that a media combination of coconut fiber and vermicompost in a ratio of 2:1 provides the best overall yields and growth parameters under a photoperiod of 16/8 hours. radish-microgreenshave the longest shelf life compared to other species: when stored in LDPE zip bags at 4°C, they stay fresh for 13 ±2 days, making them particularly suitable for commercial distribution. The preferred growth temperature is between 15-21°C (60-70°F), with a black phase of 2-3 days after sowing. The total cultivation time is 7-14 days, with harvest at a height of 5-7.5 cm (2-3 inches). radish-microgreensdevelop the characteristic sharp, peppery taste already in the cotyledon stage and are rich in vitamins A, C, E and K as well as potassium, calcium and iron. The seeds do not require pre-soaking and germinate within 2-3 days. For best results, irrigation should be done from below to keep the leaves dry and prevent fungal diseases.
